When you work in the MMA media it can be a bitter sweet experience, as you may see fighters dominate a bout only to lose due to a simple mistake or you can watch a fighter accept that their skillset is not adequate at the level they hope it to be.
But therein lies the beauty of mixed martial arts, the fighter may be despondent in a losing moment, but they will be resurgent as early as a day later! This mentality is an example to all.
As a Secondary/Middle or High School teacher in an all boys’ secondary school in inner city Dublin, we must always bring in examples of resilience to help guide these young men as they develop. As they approach their examinations, the staff have been trying to use motivational quotes to inspire the lads to put in the final effort to get the best marks possible. It was during a discussion on an MMA fight that a student highlighted that:
“Sometimes the good guys lose, but then they keep on going! It’s important to pick yourself up after a disappointment. It’s our reaction that counts!”

Lobov defied those who see him mainly as McGregor’s training partner, and won many fans on the night by putting on a valiantly five-round effort against Cub in a unanimous decision loss.
